Standing in the Darkness

This week’s sermon title this morning is “Standing in the Darkness.” It’s no easy matter to put on a red coat when everyone else only wears green coats. It makes one stand out. Perhaps someone has explained to you the extraordinary delights and benefits of wearing a red coat, so you put it on with eagerness. As time passes, however, no one else puts on a red coat; everyone continues to wear green. Wearing the red coat becomes a real burden. You would just as soon lay it aside. That’s how Jeremiah feels about the task to which God has called him. He feels isolated; he feels rejected. Jesus and Paul address this matter. They say it is good.
