THE SERMON TITLE this morning is Schemes. Would you like to move to Pergamum? According to Jesus, the throne of Satan was in Pergamum. Can you imagine incorporating that bit of information into a nifty real estate ad! Well, there was a church in Pergamum too. That meant confrontation, and at least one person from the church was martyred. Jesus commends the church for holding fast to Him in the face of violent opposition. Sometimes such in-your-face opposition is not effective. Hence, the devil has other schemes. He’s also a Liar. Liars seek to deceive. Jesus says deception is happening in Pergamum.
THE ISSUES & ANSWERS SCHEDULE:
- Today – Crescent Project – Denny Barger
- Nov. 3 – Crescent Project – Denny Barger
IT’S COMING . . . sooner than you think . . . the Annual Leidy’s Christmas Bazaar, Nov. 23rd from 9-2. Don’t fight the crowds at the mall, grab a friend and your Christmas gift list and take care of all your shopping needs in one stop! Lunch and baked goods will be available all day. Many of the items at our sale are one-of-a-kind, so shop early for best selection. Also please pray that the Lord blesses our endeavor and multiples our talents tenfold! See you there!
POP SPOTS EXPLAINED. What is the meaning of POP in our parking lot? It refers to anyone who has difficulty walking but may not qualify for a handicap designation. It is meant to ensure that such persons have the closest access to our entrance. Hence, it may be for a Patient of a Podiatrist, or, a lady who is Poppingly Out Pregnant, or, merely a Poor Old Person. It certainly does not mean Pastors Only Please!
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD boxes are available in the narthex. Inside each box are instructions on how to pack the box, what sort of items to include and not include, and other general information you will find very helpful. When your box is filled, please return it to the church. All boxes should be returned by Saturday, November 16th. This will allow time for our people to deliver them to the local collection site. Thanks for your participation in this outreach of hope and help.
SPECIAL THANKS TO THE SUITE BRASS for providing extra special musical accompaniment to enhance this Reformation Sunday service of worship. Luther and the other Reformers, we’re sure, would have found it exhilarating too!
THE CRESCENT PROJECT continues! Led by Denny Barger, it happens in the Issues & Answers class on Sunday mornings. Are all Muslims terrorists? What do Muslims believe? How can I speak with my Muslim neighbors or co-workers? Does my Christian faith create a barrier between us? These and other such questions will be addressed during The Crescent Project. Denny invites you to come out, find out, and get equipped to reach out.
THE NOVEMBER NEWSLETTER is published and distributed. You may pick up your copy from your church mailbox. Extra copies and large print copies are available at the narthex hutch.
HELP NEEDED: Brian Lafty’s aide has moved to a new job and a replacement has not been found yet. Brian may need a ride to PT and other doctor appointments. It will be necessary to be able to stow Brian’s wheelchair in your vehicle during the ride, so no VW bugs need apply! If you can help with this need, please call the church office.
FROM YOUR PASTORS: We and our families want to thank the congregation of Leidy’s Church for the many caring cards, encouraging words, generous gifts, and other expressions of appreciation during this month. A special thanks to the Care Committee for the luncheon on the 13th. We are thankful to serve the Lord Jesus among the saints and sinners of Leidy’s Church. We appreciate you right back! Pastors John, Steve, and Michael.

iBLAST BEGINS on Wednesday, November 6th. All students in grades 1 through 5 are invited to attend each Wednesday evening from 6 to 7:30. A family meal will start at 5:15 each evening of iBLAST. This is great opportunity for kids to experience engaging activities, worship, active learning, and growing friendships.
ZION CHORAL SOCIETY will be in concert today at First Baptist Church of Lansdale this afternoon at 3:00 this afternoon.
COME SEE UNPLANNED, a movie based on the true story of a Planned Parenthood clinic director who became a pro-life advocate in 2009. It is rated R for a scene showing the end result of a medical (as compared with surgical) abortion – that is, the woman takes a pill at home and it induces a miscarriage in a matter of hours. This movie will be shown in the Fellowship Hall at 7:30pm on Friday, Nov. 8th for adults and a week later on the 15th for grades 8-12. A donation of $10 is suggested for adults and $5 for youth. The proceeds will support the In This Time of Need outreach in Colombia. Since concessions will be available, please sign via the sign-up sheet in the narthex.
AN INQUIRER’S CLASS BEGINS November 10th. It will meet during the Sunday School hour in the Conference Room. Lasting for six weeks, it is designed to give a complete overview of Leidy’s Church. While not a formal membership class, it is required for those who would seek to be members. To register for the course, contact the church office or speak with Pastor Niederhaus.
PATTERNS OF PRAYER take place the first and third Saturdays of each month. We pray in the morning from 9 to 11 in Room 117. Participants are welcome to come and go as schedules permit/necessitate. This Saturday is the first Saturday of November, so we’ll be praying and you’re welcome to join as well. If you have any questions or suggestions for prayer, please speak with Patricia Martindell.
