THE SERMON TITLE this morning is Before the Throne of God Above. This is Pentecost Sunday. That’s the day the fire fell! It appeared as tongues of flame on the heads of those gathered at the Upper Room. It was a purifying fire. The fire of the Holy Spirit is a cleansing agent. Fire also is a means of torture and punishment. That is best exemplified by the fires of hell. On this Pentecost Sunday we’ll see how the promise of God in Genesis 3 is fulfilled as fire falls down from heaven just prior to the Great White Throne Judgment. The plain fact of the matter is that all who have ever lived must appear before the Judgment Seat of God.

OUR SINCERE Christian sympathy to John Rittenhouse and family at the death of his mother on Thursday. May God be with them at this time.

SPECIAL THANKS to the music and A/V personnel who continue to work hard to make our service happen – and to make it available online. All this work of ministry is deeply appreciated.

DEAR FAITHFUL SERVANTS, thank you for touching my heart with the outpouring of your expressions of love and kindness at the parting of my sister, Jean Clarke, on April 2. I consider these treasures to bind my heart. Love Patricia

THE CONFIRMATION CLASS will meet again this Monday evening at 7:30 via Zoom. If you are a member of the class and have not received an invitation, let Pastor Niederhaus know asap so you can join in all the fun!

ATTENTION SHEPHERDS OF LEIDY’S CHURCH!! Please check your church mailbox and email for your updated Shepherd list. The reverse side has helpful guidelines to assist you in your service to the flock. During this pandemic of COVID-19, it is a good time to contact your sheep to pray and see if there are any concerns. Thank you and God bless you for your commitment to serve as a shepherd of Leidy’s Church. If you have any questions, please contact a member of the Shepherding Committee.

ANYONE INTERESTED IN BEING BAPTIZED should contact Pastor Niederhaus ASAP. We are planning to include baptisms in the service of worship on June 14th

HEAR THE APOSTLES’ CREED read by various families of Leidy’s Church. Each family contributes one small portion, but it is a huge blessing to see and hear. Go to our website at www.leidyschurch.org and scroll down just a bit, next to the What’s Coming Next banner, and on the left you will see a vimeo box titled Christian What Do You Believe. Simply click on that box and it will unroll before you. Our thanks to Barb Gehman who coordinated the effort and put it together in a presentable form. All the staff say Thank you, Barb!

TODAY IS THE LAST DAY for the food collection taking place for the Keystone Opportunity Center. Thank you to everyone for your donations.

LADIES OF LEIDY’S WILL MEET again in September! Ordinarily, we would meet this coming Tuesday evening, but such will not be the case. Hope to see all of our ladies out on the evening of September 1st! Thanks for your patience and understanding.

THANK YOU TO ALL who have continued to make financial contributions even though we are not gathered as a congregation and have no formal Offering time! We do need ongoing support to pay our various ongoing bills. Online giving has been utilized by some. Others have “mailed it in” and really done so! A few have stopped by the church office and chatted with our office personnel while dropping off their tithes and offerings. To all, we say: Thank You very much

EVEN THOUGH IT IS PENTECOST SUNDAY we will not be sharing the Lord’s Supper today. That will happen three weeks from today, the Lord willing, when Confirmation takes place. For more information about this, consult the June Newsletter.

THE CONSISTORY has agreed that Leidy’s Church will be open for public worship beginning June 7, 2020. A letter giving details has been sent by email to our members and friends. The letter also can be accessed at our website. Here are some bullet points from the letter:

  • No one should feel pressured to come to worship, but we will be open for public worship.
  • If anyone is ill, if anyone feels unsafe, or if anyone for some other reason is uncomfortable coming out to worship, we encourage you to stay home.
  • We especially encourage those who are in high-risk categories to consider staying home. Usually, this refers to the elderly and those with compromising health issues. No one from those categories should feel obligated to come out to worship at this time.
  • We will continue to livestream our services so everyone will have access to our worship.

If you cannot gain access to the letter, let the church office know and those smiling ladies will get one to you! It’s a longish letter with 14 bullet points of basic info and 6 square points of additional info. You are encouraged to read all of the letter.

MEETINGS OF THE CONSISTORY AND SPIRITUAL COUNCIL will take place on the normal monthly schedule, that is, on June 9th and 10th. These meetings will take place in the Conference Room.

THE JUNE NEWSLETTER is published and in your church mailbox. If you do not plan to come to the church facility to pick it up, you can visit our website and read it. Go to www.leidyschurch.org, click on Resources, then click on Newsletters and Bulletins, then scroll down to June Newsletter and click on it.
