THE SERMON TITLE this morning is Reality and Reactions. Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great! That’s what John heard an angel descending from heaven proclaiming with great authority. No one believed it would really happen, though warnings for such a fall were prevalent for years. Then, one day, it did happen. This was a direct judgment of God on a land committed to immorality and sensuousness. One set of people do escape: those who had not participated in the sins of the land. Reactions rolled in rapidly accompanied by crocodile tears of woe. In this Babylon was found the blood of saints and prophets.
THE RUMMAGE SALE will not be taking place this May. The Rummage Room is close to overflowing, so please, if you can, hold on to your rummage until we can reschedule. Thank you.
SPECIAL THANKS to the music and A/V personnel who continue to work hard to make our service happen – and to make it available online. All this work of ministry is deeply appreciated.
THANK YOU TO ALL who have continued to make financial contributions even though we are not gathered as a congregation and have no formal Offering time! We do need ongoing support to pay our various ongoing bills. Online giving has been utilized by some. Others have “mailed it in” and really done so! A few have stopped by the church office and chatted with our office personnel while dropping off their tithes and offerings. To all, we say: Thank You very much!
FROZEN PRE-COOKED MEALS are available from the church. They consist of a variety of casseroles: chicken, stuffed pepper, chili, etc. If this would be a help to you or someone you know, call the church office to arrange a pick-up time.
THANK YOU from Les and Bonnie Pross for the prayers and cards while Les was in the hospital last week.
THE SPIRITUAL COUNCIL meets via Zoom at 7:30 on Tuesday evening. Elder Prayer will take place via Zoom at 7 immediately prior to the Spiritual Council meeting. All Elders should have received an invitation to this meeting. If not, or you misplaced it, let the office know and another will be sent to you.
THE MISSION COMMITTEE MET this past Wednesday and made some significant decisions. SLMT-Ukraine and SLMT-Pikangikum will not take place as planned. Both may take place in some other format or timeframe. It is hoped that SLMT-Ukraine can take place later this year if travel restrictions are lifted and team members are available and willing to go. We’ll wait and see how this develops. It is hoped that SLMT-Pikangikum can take place later this year perhaps in a different format that doesn’t involve taking a 20+ person team to the site. If you have ideas of what might be feasible, please pass them along to the church office. We’ll see if anything develops.
THE CONSISTORY MEETS this Wednesday evening at 7:30 via Zoom. All Consistorymen should have received an invitation to this meeting. If not, or if it was accidently deleted or lost, let the office know and another will be sent to you.
PRAYER-POINTERS. Here are two prayer points for this week as we pray for the Gospel Gleanings outreach to the Erukulu people:
- Thank God that He has not forgotten the Erukulu people. He has put them on our hearts because they are on His heart. May His purposes ripen fast when the gospel workers from India Bible Literature come among them.
- Pray for the Holy Spirit to continue to give a genuine desire to reach unreached people groups on the part of India Bible Literature personnel. Ask that they would master the materials learning and be committed to the means by which they are to take the gospel to places where it has not been heard.
THE CONFIRMATION CLASS will meet again this Monday evening at 7:30 via Zoom. If you are a member of the class and have not received an invitation, let Pastor Niederhaus know asap so you can join in all the fun!
