THE SERMON TITLE this morning is Faith with No Works is Dead. There is a saying, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” This saying should never be applied to people who say they have a faith in God but have nothing to show for it. In this case, James has much to say about that sort of faith; for true faith will be accompanied by works of faith. In fact, James says, “faith without works is dead.” Let us be people who have a living faith producing works rather than a dead one.

WE WELCOME PHIL AND PRATIKSHA TYSON to Leidy’s Church today. The Tysons are relatively new to our Mission Support list. Working in a mountainous country in Asia, their labor of love toward the Lord focuses on women who have been rescued from trafficking. We look forward to hearing how God is working in and through them.

GOSPEL GLEANING PRAYER POINTERS

  • As God works among the Erukula people through the Literacy Course, we might pray Psalm 119:110 on their behalf: The wicked have laid a snare for me, yet I have not gone astray from Your precepts. As numbers of the students come to faith in Christ, they will find that wicked people and the devil and just the nature of living in this world will lay snares, stumbling blocks for them. Ask the Lord to grant them His favor and not allow their feet to slip from His way.
  • Global Disciples is working with churches and Christian leaders in Niger and Chad to take the gospel to unreached people groups. All the preparation in the world will not bring any changes to pass unless there are open doors for gospel witness. One aspect of ministry for which we need to be praying is for open doorsof opportunity to share the Gospel. This means not only doors of opportunity, but open doors into human hearts.
