News and announcements from the Immanuel Leidy's Church community.

WITHIN THE FELLOWSHIP:

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Judy Leidy 10th; Shirley Kulp 11th; Angela Kinney, Sharon Kostishion, Pat Niederhaus 13th; Elaine Teate, Sherri Walmsley 16th.
  • HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! Ron and Kathy Moyer, Cameron and Chelsea McDonald 11th; Kevin and Carol Curcio 12th; Dave and Adine Doran 14th.

THE SERMON TITLE this morning is Saved in the Kindness of God. All Christians were at one time separated from the love of God. They could not stand before the Lord because of their sin. It is the great lovingkindness of God that while we were far off sinners, He brought us near. He redeemed us from the power of sin and death. Is there any greater news than that? It is the gospel; the message we proclaim near and far.

GOSPEL GLEANING PRAYER POINTERS

The Erukula literacy students are gaining new information about the one, true, living God as they learn to read and write. Like us, they will realize that God’s ways are not necessarily our ways. God’s Word is a powerful light the illumines the world and our souls. This week we might use Psalm 119:5-6 as our prayer launching pad. Oh that my ways may be established to keep Your statutes! Then I shall not be ashamed when I look upon all Your commandments. Ask the Holy Spirit to confirm to their hearts that they are part of the Lord’s people. It will make all the difference in the world.

Jesus is intent on building His Church in every land, even Niger and Chad. Global Disciples recently heard from Brother D. He is in the “Say” region of Niger. He is there to share the gospel and plant a church. This is a place where there is no church and where it is very dangerous. He says, “The Muslims consider that they own the land and have burned churches that were planted in the past.” Brother D asks for prayer for himself and urges us to pray God’s blessing on this “Say” region. That’s one particular region and one particular brother for whom we can pray with specificity. Let us expand that prayer into a general prayer for the entire region of Niger and Chad.

THANK YOU from Don and Dianne Nase for the cards and prayers while Don was recovering from covid.

TODAY IS THE LAST DAY to contribute towards the Covid Relief Fund with GTi Hope. The goal is to distribute 3,000 Covid Relief Kits where literacy projects have taken place or are taking place. Each kit costs $35 and provides an impoverished family of four with basic food for three weeks as well as sanitation supplies and masks. To make your contribution, please use a Second Mile envelope from a pew rack and mark it Covid Relief – India. It may be placed in one of the three offering receptacles in the rear of the sanctuary.

SLMT ORIENTATION MEETING takes place at 7pm on Wednesday evening, June 16th. Everyone who is participating in any aspect of the SLMT work weeks should plan to be present. Information will be shared, Confidentiality Agreements and Volunteer Waiver forms will be explained, and we hope to get a glimpse of what a typical day of the work week will look like. There’s still time to sign up; there is still room for you.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL – This year we will take the plunge into Jonah. The plunge takes place from June 21stto the 25th. We set sail each night at 6:30 and come back into port at 8:00. A family meal will start each night at 6 p.m. Please register your K-5th grader at www.leidyschurch.org/children. There is a need for folks to serve as guides, cooks, setters up and tearers down.

CONSISTORY meets this Wednesday evening at 7:30 in the Conference Room.

SUMMER ISSUES & ANSWERS – A Ramble thru Romans begins on June 27th and ends on September 5th with John Niederhaus as the teacher. He anticipates more a discussion format than a lecture format. It could even turn into a Quodlibet type setting. Come out to the Summer Issues & Answers Sunday School class beginning on June 27th and find out.

THE KULP FAMILY are so grateful for all your prayers, cards, and the meals that we received during BJ’s surgery and recovery. We feel so blessed to be a part of this church family.

IF YOU WOULD like to share special music anytime this summer during Sunday worship, please call Nancy VanDerbeek at 215-896-7664.

JOIN US – On Sunday, June 20th at 4:00 in the Fellowship Hall there will be an informational meeting and walkthrough of the drama that will be going on the end of October here at Leidy’s Church. Much help is needed. If you are not big on acting, we will need help in construction projects (large and small), prop collection, and a whole host of other tasks. Contact Pastor Michael if you have any questions.
