THE SERMON TITLE this morning is Becoming a Priest. Hebrews 5, when speaking of the priesthood, tells us “no one takes the honor to himself, but receives it when he is called by God, even as Aaron was.” We want to consider how it was that Jesus came to understand that He was THE priest to whom all the promises of God pointed. Jesus did think about this, as His conversation in Matthew 22 with the Pharisees demonstrates. He stumped them, but He wasn’t stumped. So, what did He understand His task to be as a priest according to the order of Melchizedek? Why should this matter to you and to me and to all people? We’ll see.

TICKETS AVAILABLE for the IronPigs vs. The Norfolk Tides on July 27th. There will be an awesome fireworks display after the game. WAITING TO BE ASKED to support someone who is part of SLMT-Pik? If you’re in that position, please speak with Pastor Niederhaus and he’ll get you lined up with someone whom you can pray for and provide a bit for. Some of our SLMT-Pik mission folk are a little bashful, not knowing how you might respond to them. Knowing you’re looking to support someone will be a help to them.

THE SOUDERTON AMERICAN LEGION is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. On Saturday, July 13th they will host an Open House from 12 to 4pm at their site at 353 Main Street. These veterans still serving America invite the community to come and celebrate with them on that day.

YOUTH FELLOWSHIP meets this afternoon from 3-6 at the home of Jerry and BJ Kulp, 361 Moyer Rd, Souderton. Main course is provided, but bring along a side dish (salads, coleslaw, etc.) or a dessert dish. Reminder that girls and guys should wear appropriate swimsuits.

PATTERNS OF PRAYER take place the first and third Saturdays of each month. We pray in the morning from 9 to 11 in Room 117. Participants are welcome to come and go as schedules permit/necessitate. This Saturday is the first Saturday of July, so we’ll be praying and you’re welcome to join as well. If you have any questions or suggestions for prayer, please speak with Patricia Martindell.

MEN’S BIBLE STUDY meets the first and third Friday of the month at 5:30 a.m. in the Youth Room. If you have any questions speak to Dave Doran.
