THE SERMON TITLE this morning is The Mystery of Christ’s Church Realized. I am certain all of us have been captivated by a good mystery, whether reading a mystery novel or viewing a mystery film. In most cases, the solving of the mystery does not happen until the end of the story, when the writer of the book or producer of the film chooses to disclose it. Paul refers to a mystery hidden in the past, but now revealed to the Church, and we will see its purpose for our lives.

THE SACRAMENT of Holy Communion will be shared at the service of worship next Sunday. Come prepared to worship and receive.

IF YOU WOULD like to share special music anytime this summer during Sunday worship, please call Nancy VanDerbeek at 215-896-7664.

A CONGREGATIONAL MEETING is scheduled for August 8th immediately following the service. The purpose of the meeting is to elect Consistory men for the 2022-2024 term. The two elders nominated for the 2022-2024 term are Joe Sciacca and Brian Shoemaker.

SUNDAY IN THE SHADE IS BACK! On Sunday, August 15th, our worship service will be held on the parsonage lawn beginning at 10:00 with a picnic lunch afterward. It has been a while since we have congregated for worship outside so here are a few things to remember. Everyone will need to bring their own seating, either a chair or a blanket, if possible. Don’t forget sunglasses—the shade moves!—and you may want a hat and some sun block as well. Most importantly bring your heart prepared to praise and worship God together.

SAVE THE DATE! The annual Love Cradle Banquet is scheduled for September 25th at 5:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall. They will be looking for guests to attend, and also for helpers during the week. Stay posted for details in future bulletins and in the September Newsletter.

THE RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE happens at Leidy’s church on Friday, July 30th. You may register before or after church, or you can go to www.redcrossblood.org and in the “Find a Blood Drive” box type in leidyschurch. Click on the link and you’ll be able to see what times are available. Choose the time that best fits your schedule.

TO THE SLMT KITCHEN CREW THIS WEEK: Thanks so much for all your hard work! Thanks for baking, cooking, stirring, washing, drying, sorting, packing, and delivering food to our hard-working crew! Thanks also for the great fellowship in the kitchen and for being flexible as our plans changed throughout the week! We greatly appreciated everyone’s help! Gina & Barb

SLMT WORK WEEK #1 IS IN THE BOOKS! Praise God for a great Work Week #1. The weather never hampered the work – except for the undue sweating and panting of out-of-shape workers. Much was accomplished, including getting the entire new addition under roof and framed up all around. The floor has yet to be poured, but that will happen prior to Work Week #2 beginning. We had trail-breakers, gutter fixers, excavation by spade specialists, hammerers, saw-ers, weed pullers, power-wash artisans, measurers, wall-disassemblerers, and a host of other competencies among us. On top of it all, we had a company of lunch fixers who excelled at snack deliveries as well. It was a full week of work, fellowship, sweating, serving, and enjoying the pleasure of seeking to help the spread of the gospel to the glory of God. THANKS to all who participated in supporting these labors in prayer and finances.

GOSPEL GLEANING PRAYER POINTERS

  • India, like many other parts of the world, has been struck severely by the Covid virus. At such times it is easy to wonder if God is real or if is He is able to do anything or if He even cares what is happening around us. For new believers this can be a particular challenge. Yet, Christians need to know that God is good, and they need to long for His teaching to orient their lives. So this week let’s pray for the 450 Erukula literacy students to discover what the Psalmist discovered and declared in Psalm 119:68 Here’s what it says: You are good and do good; teach me Your statutes. Let’s pray the students will know and confess that great truth as they learn to walk in His ways – and that we will do likewise!
  • Please pray for Demetri*, the Global Disciples regional leader overseeing the mission in Niger and Chad. Demetri is often traveling in areas that are hostile and where Christians are persecuted. Pray that the Lord would guide, protect him and his family, and give him wisdom as he works to empower many trainers to disciple and train missionaries in the region. Pray also for Solomon* the Global Disciples leader for Chad. Pray that the Lord will open doors into new clusters of churches that are near unreached people groups and that God will prepare the way for many to hear about and receive Jesus as their Lord and savior. Pray that God will raise up many leaders in Chad who will be church planters and teach others crucial skills in business development. [*names changed for security]

THE PASTORS MASTERS is taking place in 2021. In fact, it’s taking place in just about a month, namely, on Monday, August 23rd. There will be a 12:30 shotgun start at the Indian Valley Country Club. This event is a fund-raiser for Love Cradle International. Clear your calendar, arrange with your golfing buddies, and be part of supporting the work of the Lord Jesus among orphans in Ukraine via the Pastors Master. Keep alert for more information about registration.

PROPERTY WORKDAY – Saturday, July 31st from 9 am to 12 noon. Being planned is some general clean-up of the property and weeding, so there are jobs for everyone! If you have questions, please speak with Kendall Musselman.

THE YOUNG ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS that has been meeting with Justin/Emma Coale and Jim/Ginna Foote, will be meeting in the Fellowship Hall, until September 5th to join Pastor John’s class on the book of Romans. ALL young adults, including those home from college are invited and encouraged to join us! Looking forward to seeing you there!
