THE SERMON TITLE this morning is Jesus: A High Priest of Everlasting Hope. We focus our hopes in something or someone. We hope that our family stays healthy. We hope that friendships last. We hope our jobs remain the source of income to pay bills and feed our family. We hope that when trouble comes, things will work out in the end. The problem here is the objects of such hopes are unreliable and temporary. None of these hopes bring lasting consolation. We, like the Hebrews, need to learn where hope finds its rest; only a firm faith in Jesus Christ gives lasting hope. Let’s see why Jesus is our everlasting hope for time and eternity!
ISSUES & ANSWERS SCHEDULE:
- Today – Stan Ott
- July 21 – Bob Jacobus, Foretold Ministries
RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE happens on Friday, July 26. People can signup on-line or look for a Lay Committee representative in the narthex before and after the worship service.
THE EVANGELISM COMMITTEE meets on Tuesday evening at 7:00 in the Conference Room.
THE MONDAY NIGHT Women’s Bible Study will not be held this week, but will return on July 22nd each Monday at 7 pm in Room 118.
SLMT-WEAGAMOW. We imagine you don’t recognize that name, nor have you ever heard of it. Well, due to forest fires, the Pikangikum community was evacuated. Our SLMT-Pik team was redirected to the community at Round Lake, called Weagamow. They’ll be doing the same VBS program planned for Pikangikum, though the number of kids will be less. Continue in prayer for them and those among whom they minister – may God do a good work in all involved.
JIM EAKINS would like to thank the church family for the cards, prayers, and visits during his recent hip surgery and continued recovery. Praise God for His watch, care and ongoing healing.
TICKETS AVAILABLE for the IronPigs vs. The Norfolk Tides on July 27th. There will be an awesome fireworks display after the game. Tickets are $11 apiece and include a $2 voucher for use at concession stands. Those who purchase tickets will be able to get them from their church mailbox on Sunday, July 21st.
THE MEN’S BIBLE STUDY will not be meeting on Friday, July 19th. The next one will be on August 2nd.
A HOST FAMILY is being sought for an 18-year-old boy from Serbia who will be attending Faith Christian Academy. Since he is coming through a missionary non-profit organization, the host parent allowance is $300/month. If interested, contact Cheryl, Director of International Students at 215-257-4549.
THE JULY FELLOWSHIP LUNCHEON takes place next Sunday. No agenda, no expectations, just good, simple food and fellowship in the Lord. We hope the SLMT crew arrives home earlier that day, so you may get an immediate update from some of then on their week’s service to the Lord.
