News and announcements from the Immanuel Leidy's Church community.

WITHIN THE FELLOWSHIP:

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Oscar Gregory, Shawnee Kehs, Lorraine Shoemaker 18th; John Leidy 19th; Larry Frederick, Owen Permar, Collin Radcliff 20th; Dylan Camuso, Corbin Hostelley, Shannon Kehs 21st; Tom Kraus 22nd; Ted Brunner, Jane Leidy 24th.

THE SERMON TITLE this morning is Marriage, Marriage Is What Brings Us Together. While marriage is often a time of great joy and celebration, it was not so for the people of Israel in the time of Malachi. In pursuing foreign wives, they also pursued foreign gods. Malachi offers a strong rebuke for those not seeking the Lord alone. Because marriage is a God given symbol of His love for His Church, from beginning to end, the Scriptures hold marriage in high regard and call Christians to as well.

ASH WEDNESDAY WORSHIP takes place at 7:30 p.m. The worship service will consist of singing hymns, concerted prayer led by individuals from our congregation for specific concerns, followed by the Lord’s Supper. You are encouraged to attend this special service of worship.

MEALS SIGNUP SHEET – Anyone who would like to participate in our meal ministry by providing an occasional meal for members of our Leidy’s Church family in 2021 should sign-up on the sheet provided in the narthex. Here’s how it works! When we see that someone requires a meal due to having a baby, an illness, or as a result of a hospital stay, Alice Kraus will call the names of those who sign up on a rotating basis to cook and deliver meals for them and their families. This is a one-year commitment only, so be sure to sign up for 2021 even if you were on last’s year list. Thank you.

FLOWERING OPPORTUNITIES Guess what? Opportunities are still available to sponsor flowers in our sanctuary on particular Sundays in 2021. There are, in fact, 14 such Sundays. You can see which ones are still available by checking out the Flower Chart on the narthex wall. Thanks for your help in filling in the remainder of the Flower Chart.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BLESS Tim and Rachel Leidy and family with a meal while baby Jonas is in the hospital, a meal chart has been posted on the narthex wall for the month of February.

PATTERNS OF PRAYER take place the first and third Saturdays of each month. We pray in the morning from 9 to 11 in Rm. 117. Participants are welcome to come and go as schedules permit/necessitate. This Saturday is the third Saturday of February, so we’ll be praying and you’re welcome to join as well. If you have any questions or suggestions for prayer, please speak with Patricia Martindell.

THANK YOU from the Hughes’ family to our friends at Leidy’s Church for all the thoughts and prayers they received throughout Ron’s illness and after his death. They were much appreciated.

GOSPEL GLEANING PRAYER POINTERS

  • We’re praying for churches in Niger and Chad. This past week Global Disciples conducted an Annual Equipping Event [AEE] in Niger. Local leaders met to receive teaching, hear testimonies, and seek the Holy Spirit’s direction for reaching UPGs in Niger. Last year’s gathering resulted in, among other things, six new churches being planted, a prison ministry begun, and intercessory prayer groups established. Pray for similar results from the meetings this past week.
  • Psalm 119:7 says, “I shall give thanks to You with uprightness of heart, when I learn Your righteous judgments.” As 450 individuals from the Erukula people group continue learning to read using biblical and other Christian literature, ask God to make this verse true in their lives. May they see their need of a Savior because of God’s righteous judgments, and may they give thanks to God as they see and receive that Savior in the Lord Jesus.

THERE WILL BE NO Grace Notes choir on Ash Wednesday… see you February 24th!

30 PIECES OF SILVER OFFERING begins to be gathered as the Lenten season starts this Wednesday. In 2021 this offering will be directed to our good neighbor’s at God’s Treasure House. They have much flood damage to repair in the basement of their house. This occurred during the Christmas Eve deluge.

THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing a warm welcoming home with us!  What a blessing to have a peaceful place to stay while we work on translation, mentor, teach, and train online. It’s was a quiet place to connect with God too – we feel refreshed as we return to South Asia and the work God has for us there. Thank you for sharing in the joy of seeing an unreached people group hear Good News with your gifts, prayers, and provision of a place to stay. Praying God’s rich blessing on all of you as you reflect the light of Christ in Souderton and out to the ends of the earth! Please pray for travel mercies as we leave here on Feb. 16 and leave the US on March 8. Thank you for sharing the journey! With gratefulness to you and to our loving Heavenly Father, Brian and Barb S

THANK YOU to everyone who brought in items for the outreach to the homeless in the Kensington area of Philadelphia. They were much appreciated.

THE MISSION COMMITTEE WILL NOT MEET this Wednesday even though it is the third Wednesday of the month. We plan to attend the Ash Wednesday service this week and have our monthly meeting the following Wednesday, Feb. 24th at 7pm in the Conference Room.
