News and announcements from the Immanuel Leidy's Church community.

WITHIN THE FELLOWSHIP:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Michael Nowling 2nd; Joy Amstutz, Cathy Connor, Chelsea McDonald 3rd; Jack Heebner 4th; Darlene Leidy, Marie Miller 5th; Dave Doran 8th.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! Jerard and Pam Gordon 6th.

THE SERMON TITLE this morning is Done. Christmas is over. It is done. It cannot be undone. By Christmas, of course, we mean the irruption (not eruption) of God into this fallen world to bring about the redemption, reconciliation, and restoration of the people of God. In the fifth chapter of Revelation the apostle John sees the full outworking of what he wrote about in the first chapter of his gospel account. It’s worth our examining again. We are among those who share the burden given to John the Baptist in the words of Isaiah to get up on a high mountain and declare, “Here is your God! He will tend His flock.” Come to Him.

THE SACRAMENT of Holy Communion will be shared at the service of worship next Sunday.

MARCH FOR LIFE 2020 takes place on Friday, January 24th. Leidy’s Church will have a Perkiomen coach taking folk down. Cost is $12 per person. The bus will leave the Leidy’s Church parking lot at 6 a.m. and usually returns between 8:30 and 9 in the evening. A sign-up sheet is posted in the narthex. Youth under 18 years of age must have a responsible adult assigned with them.

TODAY IS THE LAST DAY to sign up for the committees of Consistory for 2020. Read over the responsibilities of each committee and prayerfully consider where you might best serve the Lord and Leidy’s Church.

NEW MEMBERS to be received soon. If you’ve been through an Inquirer’s Class in the past couple of years and desire to become a member, please contact Pastor Niederhaus or the church office asap. The date has not been set yet, but it will be sooner rather than later.

GOSPEL GLEANINGS will have its first last-Sunday-of-the-month ingathering today. If you use the envelope provided in the silk purse, it will make it much easier for our office personnel to handle and identify. You’re welcome to bring your collection in some form other than single dollar bills, though they are acceptable too! At this point, our on-line giving does not have an option for Gospel Gleanings.

THE FLOWER CHART FOR 2020 is posted on the wall in the narthex for those who would like to sponsor flowers for our sanctuary. These dates are still available: February 2, June 21, July 26, and November 15, 22, and the 29th.

IF YOU ARE THE TREASURER of an organization within the church, your financial information should be turned into the office by December 30th, if possible, and in no event later than January 6th.

IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE NIGHT TO SHINE, an event is held where guests can select like-new formal attire to wear that evening. If you have any adult-size formal clothing in excellent condition such as dresses, purses, jewelry, shoes and/or suits that you would be willing to donate we would be glad to pass them along. Please bring to the church office by no later than January 6th. If you have questions, you may speak with Pastor Steve or Denise Kulp.

GOSPEL GLEANINGS is focusing on the Erukulu people group in Andhra Pradesh, India. This is an unreached people group, that is, they have not heard about Jesus of Nazareth, nor is there any Christian witness among them. We are gathering a group of individuals who will commit to praying for the Erukulu people daily and will set aside $1 daily to underwrite a specific 3-year outreach to the Erukulu. If you would like to be participate in Gospel Gleanings, see the folk at the Welcome Desk, or, stop by the church office.

THE NIGHT TO SHINE PROM night is scheduled for Friday, February 7th. In order to make it a great night for our guests and their families, lots of volunteers are needed. If you go to the web site – bucksmont.nighttoshine.com – and click on the Volunteer Registration tab there are descriptions of the roles which need to be filled and details of what is required as a volunteer. If you are not comfortable with signing up to help at the web site, feel free to stop by the church office for assistance.

WE EXTEND congratulations and prayers to Kendall Musselman and Shaun Permar who will be ordained and installed as Deacons today. We also extend congratulations and prayers to John DiLenge who will be ordained and installed as an Elder today. May God bless their ministry among us.

THE STAFF OF LEIDY’S CHURCH wishes to say Thank You for the many, many gracious, generous, thoughtful, and encouraging cards, gifts, and words received during this Christmas season. This is true for the support staff, the musical staff, and the pastoral staff. You have blessed us! May the Lord Jesus bless each of you abundantly as well.

PRAYER-POINTERS. Here are two prayer points for this week as we pray for the Gospel Gleanings outreach to the Erukulu people:

  • Thank God that the power of Satan to deceive the nations   has been broken. Pray the light of the gospel would find pinpricks of entryways into the Erukulu culture.
  • Pray for the Holy Spirit to put deep, foundational questions in the hearts and minds of Erukulu folk.

WE EXTEND appreciation and thanks to Stan Ott and Matt Harris for their faithful service as Consistorymen the past six years. Apart from dedicated individuals such as themselves willing to give of time and energy and resources, the work of administering the affairs of the church could not be accomplished. Thank you, Stan and Matt!

ANNUAL DINNER & BUSINESS MEETING of Leidy’s Church takes place on Saturday, January 11th. Please fill out the registration form in the bulletin and place in the box provided at the Welcome Desk. At this meeting a budget will be adopted for 2020. A copy of the budget will be posted on the narthex wall.

2019 FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS are to be in the church office by tomorrow. Thank you for your faithful giving.

PATTERNS OF PRAYER take place the first and third Saturdays of each month. We pray in the morning from 9 to 11 in Room 117. Participants are welcome to come and go as schedules permit/necessitate. This Saturday is the first Saturday of January, so we’ll be praying and you’re welcome to join as well. If you have any questions or suggestions for prayer, please speak with Patricia Martindell.

OFFERING ENVELOPES for 2020 are in mailboxes in the narthex. If you would like a box of envelopes but didn’t get one, please contact the church office. If you do not have a mailbox and you requested envelopes, you may pick them up in the office.

HERE’S ANOTHER WAY you can help with the Night to Shine event which takes place on Friday, February 7th. We would like to ask our fabulous bakers to provide cookies and bar cookies to serve that evening to our guests. Please, none with peanut butter or nuts, and be sure they are delivered to the Leidy’s Church kitchen by no later than Thursday, February 6th. A sign-up sheet has been posted on the narthex wall.

EXCITED TO BE MEN! is the theme of the Men’s Breakfast taking place Saturday, January 18th. Nate Sims is the speaker. Tony K is the chief cook. The Fellowship Hall is the venue. 8am is the starting time. You – the men of Leidy’s Church – are the targeted group. A sign-up sheet is outside the kitchen on the narthex wall. Get your name on it sooner rather than later.

A SPECIAL THANKS to all those who sang and performed in the Christmas Eve service it was beautiful and greatly appreciated.
