HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! John and Elaine Greene, Ken and Nicole Peck 27th; Jeff and Lori Maxwell 28th; Ray and Beverly Dettra 29th; Robert and Elaine Frank 31st.

THE SERMON TITLE this morning is Rejoicing! Last week John wept because the plan and purpose of God was thwarted. No one was worthy to put it into action. The word to describe the situation: hopeless. Well, with men it was indeed a hopeless situation, but with God all things are possible! John’s weeping turned to rejoicing in an instant. It was the miracle of Christmas. Just as Mary, the virgin of Nazareth, rejoiced as she realized God’s plan and purpose would be fulfilled, so every tribe, tongue, people, and nation will have cause to rejoice at God’s great goodness. We, too, have cause for great rejoicing.

THE FOURTH CANDLE on the Advent Wreath is the candle of Love. The advent of the Christ Child is God’s eternal love reaching redemptively into the daily, grimy, fallen life of mankind. It was the love of God that planned and brought to pass the coming of Jesus into our world and, ultimately, into our personal lives.

CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICES
At 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve Leidy’s Church will rejoice in remembering the steadfast, purposeful love of God in His promise to bring deliverance to a fallen world enshrouded in darkness. Entitled The Light of Christmas, It will document God’s light shining in the soft radiant beams from the infant Christ’s face. A musical service, it will consist of songs and instruments and congregational carols ordered and arranged around biblical texts. Pre-service music begins at 6:30 featuring the harpists Joanna Mark and Justine Smith. The service concludes with a candle lighting service and the singing of Silent Night..

At 10:30 a more formal service of worship will take place. It will be a preaching service, this year focusing on the worthy One who is the Lamb and Lion seen by the apostle John when he is caught up into heaven. The service culminates in the sharing of the Lord’s Supper and closes with a candle lighting service and singing of Silent Night.

SIGN-UP SHEETS are on a table outside the sanctuary to sign up for the 2020 Committees of Consistory. Read over the responsibilities of each committee and prayerfully consider where you might best serve the Lord and Leidy’s Church.

MARCH FOR LIFE 2020 takes place on Friday, January 24th. Leidy’s Church will have a Perkiomen coach taking folk down. Cost is $12 per person. The bus will leave the Leidy’s Church parking lot at 6 a.m. and usually returns between 8:30 and 9 in the evening. A sign-up sheet is posted in the narthex. Youth under 18 years of age must have a responsible adult assigned with them.

PRAYER-POINTERS. Here are two prayer points for this week as we pray for the Gospel Gleanings outreach to the Erukulu people:

⚫ Thank God that the nuclear family unit is common among the Erukulu people and pray that He will work in and through families to bring this people group a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

⚫ Pray for the Holy Spirit to begin working in specific individuals creating a desire for Truth.

NEW MEMBERS to be received soon. If you’ve been through an Inquirer’s Class in the past couple of years and desire to become a member, please contact Pastor Niederhaus or the church office asap. The date has not been set yet, but it will be sooner rather than later.

GOSPEL GLEANINGS will have its first last-Sunday-of-the-month ingathering next Sunday. If you use the envelope provided in the silk purse, it will make it much easier for our office personnel to handle and identify. You’re welcome to bring your collection in some form other than single dollar bills, though they are acceptable too! At this point, our on-line giving does not have an option for Gospel Gleanings.

THE FLOWER CHART FOR 2020 is posted on the wall in the narthex for those who would like to sponsor flowers for our sanctuary. These dates are still available: February 2, June 21, July 19, and 26, and November 15, 22, and the 29th.

DEAR CHURCH FAMILY, thank you so much for remembering us with your kind words, prayers, and thoughtful gifts. We truly are blessed to be part of this church and think of each of you fondly. Knowing that we are not alone helps us get through each day. With love, the Laftys

We are gathering a group of individuals who will commit to praying for the Erukulu people daily and will set aside $1 daily to underwrite a specific 3-year outreach to the Erukulu.
