HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! John and Elaine Greene, Ken and Nicole Peck 27th; Jeff and Lori Maxwell 28th; Ray and Beverly Dettra 29th; Robert and Elaine Frank 31st.

THE SERMON TITLE this morning is Shine as Lights in the World. God is working in believers His salvation and we are to work out what God is working in us. When we faithfully do, we clearly illuminate the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This working out of our salvation is not easy; in fact, it can be very costly and hard because we battle against a corrupt world, sinful flesh, and attacks of the devil. Despite this, we can rejoice that God is working in us to shine for His glory as witnesses of Christ’s saving work. Let us shine for Jesus, the Light of the world!

THE FOURTH CANDLE on the Advent Wreath is the candle of Love. The advent of the Christ Child is God’s eternal love reaching redemptively into the daily, grimy, fallen life of mankind. It was the love of God that planned and brought to pass the coming of Jesus into our world and, ultimately, into our personal lives.

THE FLOWER CHART FOR 2021 is posted on the wall in the narthex for those who would like to sponsor flowers for our sanctuary. The chart will be posted for a few more weeks.

SIGN-UP SHEETS are on a table outside the sanctuary to sign up for the 2021 Committees of Consistory. Read over the responsibilities of each committee and prayerfully consider where you might best serve the Lord and Leidy’s Church.

MARCH FOR LIFE BUS SIGN-UP sheet is posted on the narthex wall. It’s first-come, first served! The date of the 2021 March for Life is Friday, January 29th. Thanks to some undergirding financial support from the Church and Community Committee, the cost for the round-trip ride on a plush Perkiomen Tours coach is still only $12. You’re welcome to inform others who might be interested in this opportunity to bear witness for LIFE.

KRISTA TYSON is interning at Worthwhile Wear, an organization that helps women who are survivors of human trafficking. These women would like to give back to other women who find themselves in a similar situation, or who are vulnerable to being trafficked. They are looking for donations this holiday season for them such as: tube socks, toiletries (toothbrush, shampoo, soap, etc), gloves, hats, scarves, masks, feminine products, drawstring bags, and hand sanitizer. There will be a box in the coat closet labeled Worthwhile Wear where you can place your items, donations will be accepted until January.

NIGHT TO SHINE 2021 – Shine Volunteers needed! While this year’s event is virtual, taking place on February 12th, we will still need many volunteers to help with an “in person” event called Shine Thru on Friday, January 22nd from 4 to 8 pm and Saturday, the 23rd from 10 am to 4 pm. This is an opportunity for parents/caregivers to bring their king/queen to a DRIVE THRU event in the Leidy’s Church parking lot to be celebrated and receive their guest experience kit. Go to Leidyschurch.nighttoshine.com to get details and volunteer to help.

HELP IS NEEDED in childcare during the worship service. Would you like to get to know the children at Leidy’s Church a little better? The best way to do that is to volunteer in the Nursery, in the Lambs, or in Children’s Church. Help is especially needed in Children’s Church. Contact Justine Smith if you would like to help in any of these childcare areas. Please make sure that you have your background checks that are needed in order.

IF YOU ARE THE TREASURER of an organization within the church, your financial information should be turned into the office by December 30th, if possible, and in no event later than January 11th.

PAUL KRAUS IS COLLECTING cancelled stamps for the Perkasie Leo Club. These will be sent to veterans who use them for therapy. Before you throw out your envelopes, please save the stamps for this ongoing activity. A collection box labeled ‘STAMPS’ will be located in the coat closet outside the office. Paul Kraus and his Perkasie Leo Club thanks you!

OFFERING ENVELOPES for 2021 are in mailboxes in the narthex. If you would like a box of envelopes but didn’t get one, please contact the church office. If you do not have a mailbox and you requested envelopes, you may pick them up in the office.

SHERMAN & KAREN FOCHT wish to say a big thank you to the Leidy’s Church family for all the prayers, cards, phone calls, and meals provided while they were recuperating.

GOSPEL GLEANINGS PRAYER-POINTERS. We have two different continents on which to focus our prayers for Unreached People Groups: Asia and Africa: India in Asia as well as Chad and Niger in Africa. Here are some suggestions for this week’s prayers:

  • For the Erukulu people group in India, let’s ask the Lord Jesus (who is the Light of the world) to shine on that people group. Even where they live, we hope the Erukulu will hear about Christmas in some form or another this week. May the Holy Spirit quicken it to their hearts.
  • For the countries of Chad and Niger, let’s pray for the clusters of churches to be identified with whom Global Disciples will work to send witnesses of the Messiah among peoples who have not heard the Good News.

NEED TO GET SIGNED UP? If you were not here last Sunday, or you forgot to stop by a Gospel Gleanings Sign-Up Table in the narthex, then today is the day to sign up! Friendly Mission Committee personnel will be glad to help you become part of those who are helping bring the gospel to those who have never heard. If you are participating in worship virtually only, you may give the office a call or send an email to request the sign-up materials. We’ll get them to you. Your participation is needed and will be a blessing to others and to you and your household.

ALICE KRAUS WILL BE COLLECTING gently used bras to help trafficked women establish microbusinesses. Please ask your friends and neighbors if they can help. This is an on-going collection that ends in late Feb. 2021 but anytime you have bras she can take them. Any size/shape/color – even nursing bras are accepted. A labeled collection box will be placed in the coat area. Thank you very much!

NEW PRECEPT STUDY – Galatians – Who Has Bewitched You? Why and How? We have freedom because Christ made us free. Stand strong, do not change and go back to the slavery of the Law (5:1). Galatians is a God-breathed book written with a confident hand. Paul was not shaken, he didn’t waver, and his belief didn’t falter. Neither should ours! Classes begin on January 6th from 9-11:30, leader, Marci Stunkard followed by video teaching. To order workbooks please contact Verna at 215-237-1370. Cost of the workbook is $16.

FROM BONNIE PROSSJust saying thanks for all the prayers and cards during the time of Les illnesses and his death.  I would not know what I would do without my church family.
