THE SERMON TITLE this morning is Put Off Old Ways & Put On Christ’s New Way. An estimated 45 million Americans go on a diet each year, with more dieting today than ever before. More people attempt to take off the pounds, yet obesity is up from 34% to 42% in the USA according to CDC reports, which may cause death. What is the problem? Old eating habits are not replaced with new healthy eating habits to keep off weight. Spiritually, Paul exhorts believers to put off old ways that result in corruption by learning to put on Christ’s new way, which produces righteousness and holiness of truth for life.
WE WELCOME MICK AND CATHY SANDER to Leidy’s Church this morning. Mick and Cathy are among the missionaries we regularly support. Ministering in eSwatini, (formerly known as Swaziland) a land-locked country in southern Africa, they have a lot to share. Their area of focus is ministering with the deaf community. They also serve as a resource team for those who find deadly snakes in their homes! Yes, they plan to enjoy a picnic lunch with us and would be delighted to speak with you during that time. Take time to share your greetings with them.
WE LOVE TO PRAY FOR OUR KIDS! Each year we do that by matching kids with adults through the Pray Cards. It is time once again to send in your pictures of your children ages 0 – 12th grade. Please drop them off at the office or you can email them to office@leidyschurch.org no later than August 28th. Thank you so much. We value your kids and this wonderful way to connect people at Leidy’s Church.

GOSPEL GLEANING PRAYER POINTERS
- What will the lives of those 450 Erukula literacy students look like going forward? We don’t know for sure. The course is a life-transforming course. They will never be the same. Many of the students experienced the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit. But their lives will be different now since they no longer will be in class two hours each evening. Their lives will go forward. One of the ways we might pray for them is found in Psalm 119:160. That verse says, The sum of Your word is truth, and every one of Your righteous ordinances is everlasting. May that conviction be the bedrock of their lives going forward. May it be the bedrock of our lives as well.
- This past Thursday marked the end of the 11-day equipping Conference in Niger. From what we know, it proved to be a richly informing and powerfully motivating time for the dozen or so men present. Those men will now return to their communities where they will work with clusters of churches to prepare for coordinated outreaches to unreached people groups. We should pray each of those men will have sealed to their hearts the truths and vision received at the Conference. Also, that the Lord will raise up folk from their area who recognize the Holy Spirit’s call to take the Gospel to those who have never heard. As always, pray for their safety in body and soul.

IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO PARTICIPATE in our Thursday morning Precept Bible study, one covering 1 Corinthians is held on Wednesdays from 9:15 to 11:30 am beginning September 8th in the Telford area. The sub-title is Overcoming Divisions & Difficulties in the Body of Christ. Why are there so many divisions in the church, and why is sin sometimes tolerated? Are you experiencing any of the same problems that the Corinthians did in your own relationships or in your church? Paul addresses these issues raised by believers.
