News and announcements from the Immanuel Leidy's Church community.

WITHIN THE FELLOWSHIP:

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Natalie Reich, Diane Weber 5th; Karen Brown 6th; Ginna Foote, Cindy Schilling, Steve Yagilnicky 7th; Grace Bissey, Sandy Derstine, Kathryn DiLenge, Elisha Smith 10th.
  • HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! Gerald and Sherry Moyer 6th; Steve and Sandy Swartz 8th; Frank and Phyllis Allebach, Justine and Chrissy Lockman 9th; John and Tara DiLenge 10th.

THE SERMON TITLE this morning is Preserve Unity by Living Worthy of God’s Calling. In response to being in Christ, Paul exhorts believers to live worthy of their high calling. As we do, our conduct preserves the unity of the Spirit among the people of God. In a world fractured by division and driven by greed and selfishness, we will see how living for Christ is attractive and appealing to people living without the hope of God in this world.

LOOKING FOR SOMEONE to support for SLMT ’21? If so, please contact the church office or John Niederhaus. You’ll be linked up with a team member still needing some support, with regard to prayer and finances.

A CONGREGATIONAL MEETING is scheduled for next Sunday immediately following the service. The purpose of the meeting is to elect Consistorymen for the 2022-2024 term. The two elders nominated for the 2022-2024 term are Joe Sciacca and Brian Shoemaker. The meeting is also to seek congregational approval to give Consistory the authority to pursue the arrangements necessary for Immanuel Leidy’s Church to be able to sell the property at 276 W. Cherry Lane (old church and Mission House). Any proposal regarding changes to the existing financial arrangements of the property would be presented to the congregation for approval.

PASTORS MASTER REGISTRATION may be accomplished by going online at www.pastorsmasters.org or use the registration form from the Pastors Master brochure and mail your check to Love Cradle International c/o Jack Parry, 527 Hunsicker Rd. Telford 18969. Registration fee is $200 per golfer. The date is Monday, August 23rd at the Indian Valley Country Club with a shotgun start at 12:30. As usual, there will be lots of prizes and amenities, plus the joy of helping support Gospel work among orphans in Ukraine.

SUNDAY IN THE SHADE! Two weeks from today our worship service will be held on the parsonage lawn beginning at 10:00. Everyone will need to bring their own seating, either a chair or a blanket, if possible. Don’t forget sunglasses—the shade moves!—and you may want a hat and some sun block as well. Park in the church parking lot. Entry to the service will be by foot by the lower/back parking lot area. If you are unable to walk over, drop-off is allowed by car through the parsonage driveway. A simple meal will be provided following the service (hot dogs and sloppy joes, coleslaw, watermelon).

THE END BEGINS TOMORROW. We’re talking about SLMT WorkWeek Two. All this coming week a crew of between 14 and 17 members will be working at the WorthWhile Wear site finishing the addition constructed during WorkWeek One, as well as doing lots of other improvements to the property. Additional personnel are part of the Kitchen Crew preparing lunches and snacks. Prayers for all involved will be appreciated.

SAVE THE DATE! The annual Love Cradle Banquet is scheduled for September 25th at 5:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall. They will be looking for guests to attend, and also for helpers during the week. Stay posted for details in future bulletins and in the September Newsletter.

PATTERNS OF PRAYER take place the first and third Saturdays of each month. We pray in the morning from 10 to 12 in Room 117. Participants are welcome to come and go as schedules permit/necessitate. This Saturday is the first Saturday of August, so we’ll be praying and you’re welcome to join as well. If you have any questions or suggestions for prayer, please speak with Patricia Martindell.

IN MID-AUGUST a box full of sewing and knitting supplies will be sent to Ukraine for Love Cradle. If you would like to add to that, there is a box labeled “Love Cradle Transition House” in the coat room. Thank you for your donations.

TRIP TO THE METROPOLITAN Museum to view the Medici Exhibit on loan from Florence, Italy, takes place on Thursday, September 9th. A Perkiomen Tours coach will take participants on a carefree trip to the Big Apple while the driver handles the traffic and the tolls and the maze of highways. Cost is $100 per person. Departure time is 7:30am from the church parking lot with an anticipated return by 5 or 6 pm. Registrations through the church office should be made sooner rather than later. $50 is required with the registration and the remainder is due by Sept. 1st. For more information on the Medici Exhibit and other opportunities while at the Met, contact Pat Niederhaus.

GOSPEL GLEANING PRAYER POINTERS

  • The Erukula people who are part of the literacy program, are making their first acquaintance with the Word of God. Among some of them, the Word by the power of the Holy Spirit, has changed their understanding of the world and of the way one should live in the world. That means change! And no one likes change except babies with dirty diapers, or so they say. But for those who have had a change of heart, may Psalm 119:24 be the new attitude they embrace: Your testimonies also are my delight, they are my counselors. Let’s pray this week that such will happen.
  • A Global Disciples training for Program Directors takes place in Niger beginning tomorrow (Aug. 2nd) and continuing through August 12th. We should be in prayer for the 10 to 15 men who will be trained to lead training programs for clusters of churches. It’s a training of trainers. This will result in 10 to 15 programs training disciples on reaching unreached people groups. We should ask for God to protect all involved in the training from any attempts to disrupt the training or discourage those being trained. Pray for the Holy Spirit to empower those teaching and those learning!

PLEASE JOIN US FOR OUR NEXT TACOS prayer event on Wednesday, Aug. 11th in the Fellowship Hall at 7 p.m. TACOS reminds us to come to God in prayer with Thanksgiving, Adoration, Confession, while remembering to pray for others and ourselves. We open our time with songs of praise and worship at 7 p.m. and wrap things up by 8:30. Paul the apostle exhorts us to not be anxious about anything but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. Hope to see you there!

YOUTH FELLOWSHIP meets this afternoon at 3:00 at the home of Rich & Juliana Kapusta, 935 Landis Rd., Telford. You are welcome to bring a ball or outdoor game. Boys are to bring a side, and girls a drink. There may be some tipping of the toes in the creek, so bring a swimming suit or attire you don’t mind getting wet.
