THE SERMON TITLE this morning is What God Can Do! This is Palm Sunday! A day for singing Alleluias and praising God for sending the Lord Jesus who is the Son of David, the King of Israel. Of course, it’s also just five days out from the darkest of all the days of humanity, even darker than in the days of Noah’s flood. Good Friday will happen, but Good Friday is not the Final Word. Jeremiah, the prophet of dark forebodings of disaster for the nation of Israel, has a particular task assigned to him by God. He sees that it is done but cannot begin to imagine how it can be meaningful. He needed to learn what God can do.

EASTER SUNDAY is one week from today. The sacrament of Holy Communion will be shared. Please come prepared in heart and mind to share in this sacrament.

Steve and Kelly Marks are missionaries we support. They will be leaving for Thailand at the beginning of next year, the Lord willing. In preparation for their departure, they are putting together a Barnabas Prayer Team. They would like to have someone from Leidy’s Church to be part of that team. Talk to Pastor Niederhaus for more information to see if this might be something where you could serve the Lord.

KRISTA TYSON is going on a mission/service trip to Bolivia in August. She is raising funds for the trip now. You may have received a letter in your church mailbox from her. If you would like to support her but would prefer not to have your name added to another mailing list, you may give your support through Leidy’s Church. Just use a Second Mile envelope and mark it Krista to Bolivia. The church will send one check for her support at the end of April.

LUKE 19 – DO YOU ENJOY THE BEAUTY of Lancaster County?  I’ve taken six of my photographs and had them made into 4″ X 5″ folded notecards with envelopes. A set of six different scenes is $8. (The photos used on the cards are on a sign-up sheet on the narthex wall.) Text or email me if interested. 610-299-6513 elainet9@gmail.com.

THE LEIDY’S CHURCH CONSTRUCTION CREW is in need of volunteers to do a variety of jobs at the Christian New Life Island Camp located on River Road in Upper Black Eddy. They are gearing up for another work day on Saturday, April 27th, if you would be able to help in any way contact Matt Harris at 267-718-5764.

THE FELLOWSHIP LUNCHEON happens today. Everyone is invited to stay and enjoy lunch and fellowship. No agenda, no business to do; just relax and build relationships while enjoying some good food.

THE BMCE BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONAL Breakfast takes place on Wednesday, May 15th. Featured speaker is Dave Shoemaker who is the Managing Chair for C-12 Philadelphia. This organization works with Christian business owners and corporate managers to build great businesses for God’s greater purpose. Tickets through Leidy’s Church are $10 p/person. The breakfast begins at 6:30 at the Franconia Heritage restaurant banquet facility. Contact Jack Parry, Pastor Niederhaus, or the church office to get tickets.

BACK TO THE CROSS is being presented this afternoon at 4 o’clock in the Fellowship Hall. The Sonshine Players invite you to come out and travel through time with them. As you do so you will learn some of the many ways the Lord has been at work in every time. May He continue to be at work in this time, which is our time.

OBERAMMERGAU TRIP for the once-each-decade presentation of the Passion Play is being planned for September of 2020. The trip starts in Rome and makes its way north through beautiful Italian countryside and internationally known cities and sites. Pastor Niederhaus is leading the tour and has brochures on the narthex hutch with the specific details. A meeting will be held at the church on Tuesday, May 14th at 7pm for those planning to go, those thinking about going, those who may want to think about going, and for those who are just nosey.

GOLF TOURNAMENTS are big this time of year! Anyone thinking of the Master’s this weekend? The Pastors Masters Charity Golf Tournament takes place one week from tomorrow, that is, on the 22nd of April. Sponsored by Love Cradle International, this year’s tournament takes place at the Indian Valley Country Club. Leidy’s Church hopes to have a foursome or two signed up – and hopefully one can win this year! Grab a brochure from the narthex hutch for all the details, or, speak with Jack Parry, Steve Yagilnicky, or Pastor Michael to get teed up to tee off.

EASTER LILY forms are available at the Welcome Desk to sponsor a plant on Easter Sunday. These plants may be placed in memory or in honor of someone. The cost of each plant is $8. Someone will be at the Welcome Desk to take your slip and payment. Thank you.

THIRTY PIECES OF SILVER offerings will be collected this morning and next Sunday. There will be a special basket in the narthex where your offerings may be placed. All the monies collected will be used to help persecuted and displaced Christians in the Middle East.

SLMT-PIK ORIENTATION LUNCHEON happens on Sunday, April 28th. It is a great meal, with a lunch meat table, a salad table, a soup table, and a dessert table. Varieties of options abound on each table! And your family is invited to attend as well and get filled in on what is planned for ministry at Pik. All those who are signed up to be part of the team should plan on being present for the feast and to receive specific assignments within the team.

CHARIOTS FOR HOPE annual banquet is set for Friday, May 10th. They will be celebrating 10 years of ministry among orphanages in Kenya. There is no cost for the event, but there will be an opportunity to support the ministry financially. Reservations should be made by April 26th by calling 267-815-1067. It begins at 6:30pm at 1601 N. RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE happens at Leidy’s Church on Tuesday, April 23rd. There are several ways for you to secure an appointment to give blood. The quickest and easiest way is to go directly to www.redcrossblood.org and in the “Find a Blood Drive” box type in leidyschurch. Click on the link and you’ll be able to see what times are still available. Choose the time that best fits your schedule. Or, you may register before or after church on Sundays at the table in the narthex. The church office also will take calls from folk who want to register to give blood but keep forgetting to do so on Sunday morning and don’t want to go to the website.

LOVE CRADLE TRANSITION HOUSE could still use some sewing, knitting and crocheting supplies. The collection box is located in the coat area.

REGISTERED TO VOTE? If you want to vote in the PA Primary Election, you must be registered no later than Monday, April 22nd. If you are not registered there are forms available at the narthex hutch or you may do so online by going to this site: www.pavoterservices.pa.gov/Pages/VoterRegistrationApplication.aspx.

THERE’S NO SUCH THING as too many cooks in the kitchen as far as the VBS team is concerned. This year we’re trying something new for VBS dinner. We’d like five different families/groups to take a turn providing dinner for the VBS crowd just one night. This means preparing a simple meal for about 100-120 people. It can be something as easy as baked ziti, chili, or sandwiches. If you’re willing to take a night (June 17-21) please contact Laura Heebner 215-872-9834.

AS IN PREVIOUS YEARS, the church will ring with the sounds of the Hallelujah Chorus this Easter. All are invited to participate! If you’ve ever sung or thought of singing the Hallelujah Chorus, please join us for practice Wednesday evening at 7:30.
